Breaking the Bread

On the 6th of January, Badnik is celebrated with a table full of delicious homemade recipes. However you won’t find any meat on this table today. This is the end of the fasting, from tomorrow on, meat is again allowed.

As the tradition continues, homemade bread is put on the table. Usually the head of the family breaks the bread into small, even parts. Each part representing God, the House and each member of the family. Inside one of the parts is a small coin, whoever finds it in his piece of bread, will have a year of luck and happiness.
